My project will look at designing a campaign for the Isle of Man Constabulary which will be primarily based around younger vehicle users. I first came across this idea of designing a campaign when speaking to the Isle of Man College Liaison Officer PC Mike Taylor at the college Health Fayre on the 12th March 2014. Here we talked about the type of design that the Constabulary adopted for their posters aimed at young people - primarily of people of college age which spans from 16 onward. We soon came to realise that most of these posters were ineffective in their purpose and quality and this was something that mutually we agreed could do with some creative inspiration. After explaining to PC Taylor that I was an art student interested in Graphic Design and Advertising I asked him if there was potential to design a fresh campaign which would focus on something relevant to young people and also something that would raise awareness. He agreed that having a student at the college design a campaign for people of a similar age would be an insightful thing to do and would benefit the Constabulary in producing something that they were not able to do because it required too much time to do effectively. This was the beginning of my choice for FMP, which for me was even more important to be professional because I was working with a real client and would have to maintain a good correspondence with PC Taylor and other Sectors to produce a campaign that could potentially be used at a later date.
